Chads News - 13th May 2026

Dear Church Family,
Thank you to everyone who attended the APCM last Sunday. It was a wonderful and encouraging time as we looked back with gratitude for all God has done and looked ahead with hope and expectation for all that is to come.

During our time together, we continued exploring the book of Revelation, which has been both exciting and challenging for us as a church. Over recent weeks, we have been reflecting on the seven churches in Revelation and the encouragements and challenges Jesus gave to each of them. Last Sunday gave us an opportunity to celebrate the many people who faithfully serve at St Chad’s, while also recognising the challenges we face as we seek to become all that God is calling us to be — always keeping Jesus at the centre of everything we do.

Another church that is especially close to our hearts is St Barnabas Church Hattersley. Sam recently came to preach at both morning services, and over the past couple of months Dave and Richard have also visited Hattersley to share communion and preach. We are building the Kingdom, not a St Chad’s castle, and so we are always looking for ways to bless and support what God is doing in other places. Hattersley is a particularly exciting place for the Kingdom of God at this time.

St Barnabas is one of our mission partners, and we seek to support them through prayer, financial giving, practical help, and pastoral care for both our friends there and the leadership team, encouraging them in the work they are doing. It is always better when we work together, and the Lord delights in unity. Please do take a moment to read the prayer points below from St Barnabas.

In the Bible, Barnabas — originally called Joseph — was a Levite from Cyprus who became known as the “Son of Encouragement” because of his generosity and the vital role he played in the early Church. He was described as a good man, full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and he helped nurture and strengthen the growing church. We believe this reflects something of what St Barnabas is doing in Hattersley today as a fledgling church plant. As mission partners, we continue to pray for and support them as they reach out to a community that has faced many struggles in the past, but where they are now beginning to see God’s favour at work.
We are cheering them on!

Blessings,
Katie
